Jennifer McHugh, LCSW

Jennifer McHugh, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Jennifer received her Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University and her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Sacred Heart University.

Jennifer is passionate about helping children, families, and caregivers by using a strengths -based, family systems, trauma focused approach to individual behaviors and symptoms as well as family miscommunication. Jennifer uses a humanistic approach to assist clients to identify barriers to feeling fulfilled, as well as their personal goals, to tailor a treatment plan that is adaptable to their needs based on past history, current symptoms, cultural beliefs, and mental and physical health.

Jennifer has experience working with clients with diverse backgrounds, and works with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief and loss using CBT, mindfulness practices, and motivational interviewing. She has specialized training and certification in Circle of Security, Women and Children’s Trauma, Gender Identity, and Crisis Intervention.

Jennifer truly enjoys working with children and adolescents individually, as well as with their families and caregivers, to create a safe space to allow conversation and personal growth for clients to lead their ideal life. Jennifer believes treating clients through the lens of trauma, loss, grief, and anxiety, using mindfulness and a humanistic approach, allows clients to feel safe and heard, leading to healing and a greater understanding of themselves, thus improving their own self-esteem and their relationships with others.
