Lisa Hoffman, LPC

Lisa Hoffman, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Connecticut. Lisa graduated with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Pittsburgh where she double majored in sociology.Lisa has experience working with a wide range of clients, but especially enjoys working with teenagers and young adults with difficulties such depression, anxiety, trauma, life changes, relationship stress, and other challenges that are disruptive to daily life. Lisa has worked in a therapeutic group home for the last three years where she has worked closely with adolescents and their families through both individual and group therapy. She also has several years of experience treating suicidal ideation and self-injurious behaviors and is skilled in crisis assessment and management. Lisa is certified in DBT, and utilizes this evidence-based treatment, as well as cognitive behavioral therapy, from a person-centered approach, adapting the science of therapy to each individual, knowing not every coping skill will work for every person. Lisa feels it’s important individuals feel comfortable with their treatment plan and feel it is useful and accessible in daily life. When working with clients, she also enjoys utilizing mindfulness techniques, as well as encouraging creativity through art and play. Lisa believes that each client is unique and important, and it is her goal to help each client decrease their symptoms and live the best and happiest version of their own life.
In addition to DBT, Lisa is also a certified PeaceLove Creator, which is a program that promotes mental wellness by using creativity and expression to inspire, heal, and communicate. She believes everyone deserves a safe space to share their emotions and vulnerability, where they can create fearlessly and honestly without judgement. Lisa also feels it is important to celebrate clients progress and empower them to create positive and healthy change in their lives.

Lisa wants her clients to know that she knows how overwhelming it can be to seek help. She believes that asking for help shows courage and strength, and she is dedicated to helping each client reduce their distress, reach their goals, and feel better. Healthy change is possible and you deserve to feel better, secure, safe, and at peace.
