Michelle Rumery, LCSW

Michelle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from UCONN with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Springfield College. Michelle has vast experience in trauma care for children and adolescents, including a certification in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as experience using exposure therapy, play therapy, solution focused theory, and mindfulness and grounding exercises for children and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and OCD.

Michelle enjoys working with children and their families using positive communication, play therapy, art, and self expression to help children feel more grounded, confident, and safe expressing themselves and their feelings. Michelle has a gentle, kind nature and takes the time to understand each child’s unique self-expression of their symptoms and strengths.

Throughout her time as a therapist, Michelle has worked within various realms, including work within the school system, as well as at extended day treatment programs, focusing on implementing coping skills and social skills for children who struggle with behavioral or emotional stressors. Using a more warm, nurturing approach, Michelle focuses on building positive and trusting relationships with her clients and their family members, while working at the client’s pace to meet the client where they are, making sure they feel involved and heard during their treatment.
