Sarah Ollayos, RDN

Sarah is a registered dietitian- nutritionist who graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in nutritional science. After graduation, she went on to attend a 52-week intensive internship at Yale New Haven Hospital where she developed a profound understanding of how nutrition and dietary choices impact overall wellbeing. During this intensive internship, Sarah applied age and culturally appropriate medical nutrition therapy in a variety of hospital services including transplant, oncology, pediatrics, and medical intensive care units. Sarah provided service coverage in YNHH’s pediatric ICU, SICU, and general medicine services. She received the award for Outstanding Dietetic Intern of the year from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in April 2018 and continues to apply what she learned from this important experience into how she treats patients every day.

Sarah has experience working with adults, adolescents and teenagers in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. She truly believes that the health of an individual is largely dependent on dietary choices and she has seen first-hand how nutrition can be used as preventative medicine.

Sarah specializes in clinical nutrition and uses medical nutrition therapy to treat chronic illnesses such as diabetes, Crohn’s disease, and IBS. Working in acute care has provided her with the opportunity to help people during their most difficult moments. Sarah sees each person as an individual, and is sensitive to dietary limitations, concerns, and the way nutrition can influence mental and physical health. Sarah operates using the HAES model (health at every size) and believes health is achieved through education and balance.
