Lisa Hoffman, LPC
Lisa Hoffman, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Lisa graduated with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University, and received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. Lisa has experience working with a wide range of clients, but especially enjoys working with teenagers and young adults with difficulties such as depression, anxiety, trauma, life changes, relationship stress, and other challenges that are disruptive to daily life. Lisa previously worked closely with adolescents in a therapeutic group home utilizing both individual and group therapy. She has several years of experience treating suicidal ideation and self-injurious behaviors and is skilled in crisis assessment and management. Lisa is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and utilizes this evidence-based treatment as well as aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from a person-centered approach, adapting the science of therapy to each individual. Lisa also offers Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help clients reprocess negative thoughts and emotions that are connected to past experiences and traumas. Lisa is trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy, which is an evidenced based therapy to help people engage with and heal all of their parts, to better understand themselves and work through trauma.
Lisa believes everyone deserves a safe, non-judgmental space to share their thoughts and emotions. When working with clients, she also enjoys utilizing mindfulness techniques, a holistic approach and a strengths-based perspective. Lisa feels it is important to celebrate clients' progress and empower them to live the happiest and most fulfilling version of their own life.
Lisa wants her clients to know that while it can be overwhelming to ask for help, asking for help shows courage. She is dedicated to helping each client reduce their distress, reach their goals, and feel better.
