Melissa Mitchell, LCSW

Melissa Mitchell, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than a decade of experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, clarity, and resilience. She specializes in supporting adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship stress, as well as those managing complex medical, emotional, or social concerns.

Her clinical background spans outpatient mental health, hospital-based psychiatry, crisis intervention, and community programs. She has extensive experience working with Veterans and individuals facing issues such as housing instability, chronic mental health conditions, and high-stress life events. These experiences allow her to create a therapeutic space that is grounded, nonjudgmental, and responsive to each client's unique needs.

Melissa integrates evidence-based modalities-including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based approaches-to help clients gain insight, build coping skills, and experience meaningful change. Her style is warm, collaborative, and authentic, offering clients a safe environment to explore their thoughts, emotions, and patterns at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.

She earned both her Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut and is licensed in the state of Connecticut. She holds additional training in psychiatric mental health first aid, crisis intervention, and field instruction for developing clinicians.

At the heart of her work is a deep commitment to helping individuals reclaim a sense of balance, strengthen their resilience, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with their values and goals. She approaches therapy as a collaborative partnership-one that honors each person's story, strengths, and potential for growth
